Currituck Rural Farm Festival 2013
The Currituck County Center of N.C. Cooperative Extension will be hosting the Third Annual Currituck Rural Farm Festival on Saturday, October 5 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Currituck County 4-H Rural Center. The Rural Center is located at 184 Milburn Sawyer Road (off North Spot Road) in Powells Point. The Currituck County 4-H Rural Center is maintained for the educational, cultural and recreational enrichment of the public and for the benefit of the citizens and visitors to Currituck County.
The Rural Farm Festival program will feature music and a variety of educational booths including equine demonstrations and exhibits, carriage rides, local talent, blacksmith demo, food and merchandise vendors, children’s activities and more. All civic organizations are encouraged to participate. Booth space is available for food vendors, educational information, merchandise, etc.
Don’t forget the second “Homegrown and Handmade” Contest. Youth and adults may submit entries to be judged including Arts & Crafts, Canning, Home Grown Vegetables, and/or Baked Goods. Monetary prizes will be given based on entry fees received. Registration forms and the entry fee of $3.00 for the Homegrown and Handmade Contest should be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2013.
Would you like to go home with the title of “Most Delicious Chili in Currituck County 2013”? If so, we invite you to register for the Currituck Rural Farm Festival 2013 Chili Cook-Off. Judges will be on hand to taste your chili and name a winner. After the judging, visitors may even get a chance to taste some great chili samples! The winner will go home with a first place ribbon, a $50.00 cash prize, and a certificate stating that they indeed have the “most delicious chili in Currituck County for 2013”. Registration form and entry fee of $5.00 for the Chili Cook-Off Contest should be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2013.
