The Currituck County Center of North Carolina Cooperative Extension will be conducting a program on raising a Backyard Chicken Flock on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the Powells Point Senior Center in Powells Point beginning at 6:30 p.m. The program is designed for beginners who are interested in raising chickens and producing eggs. Participants will obtain a wealth of information necessary to know before starting their own small backyard flock. Aside from gaining knowledge of small flock management, those in attendance will have the opportunity to learn from a local grower with their own backyard flock. In addition, attendees will learn of the available resources for chicks, equipment, and feed, etc. Anyone interested should contact the Currituck Extension Center at 252-232-2262 to register for the program or sign up on line at: http://go.ncsu.edu/backyardpoultry
