Currituck County 4-H’ers Win at District 4-H Activity Day

Currituck County 4-H’ers recently traveled to the annual Northeast District 4-H Activity Day presentation competition on May 30, 2015. The event was held at Franklinton High School in Franklinton, NC. District Activity Day is held to offer 4-H’ers from 22 counties an opportunity to compete in public speaking/presentation and outdoor cooking contests. Two hundred thirteen youth from across the NE Extension District participated.
For the competition, 4-H’ers must prepare and present a 5-12 minute speech on any topic they choose. Currituck County 4-H wants to thank the parents and volunteers who helped these young people achieve success!

The goal of the North Carolina 4-H Program, conducted by North Carolina Cooperative Extension at North Carolina State and North Carolina A&T State Universities, is to assist youth and adults in becoming competent, coping and contributing members of a global society, and developing life skills through planned learn-by-doing experiences. 4-H is the largest youth organization in North Carolina with 20,491 youth and adult volunteers and more than 235,025 participants.
