North Carolina Cooperative Extension of Currituck County will be hosting a webinar sponsored by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service – Science and Technology Support Centers entitled“Landscapes for Butterfly Conservation” on March 23, 2016 at 2 p.m. The webinar will be held in the Conference Room of the N.C. Cooperative Extension Currituck County Center located at 120 Community Way, Barco, NC 27917. The webinar will last approximately one hour.

Landscape configuration and composition affect butterfly populations greatly because they influence the availability of host plants, nectar, mineral resources, and microhabitat conditions. Given the recent decline in numerous butterfly species, using knowledge of habitat requirements and landscape configurations is of great importance to maximize the recovery of these species. Participants in this webinar will learn best management practices and habitat enhancements for butterflies in their own home landscapes. Come out and join us in learning how to “Bring Back the Butterflies” during this educational and informative webinar.

Admission to this event is free and registration is not required. For more information concerning this webinar, you can visit the webinar website by using this link Landscapes for Butterflies or by contacting Sarah Watts at sewatts@ncsu.edu or at 252-232-2262.
