2017 Currituck County 4-H Poultry Show

Currituck County Extension will be  hosting the 2017 4-H Domestic Poultry Show on Saturday, September 16, 2017 and now is the time to register to receive your chicks! So let’s get crackin’! The show is open to all youth from ages 5 to 18 and a registration fee of $20 will be charged. The registration fee covers all show costs and includes 2 chicks for the show. These are the only chickens allowed in the show as no outside chickens entries will be accepted. Youth will be able to select between two breeds, either Light Brahma and/or Speckled Sussex. For more information about these breeds, please call the Currituck County Extension Office or visit https://poultry.ces.ncsu.edu/breeds/ and click on poultry breeds. Please be sure to indicate which breed your child would like to show upon registration.

Register online for the 2017 4-H Domestic Poultry Show so you can show off your chickens and “strut your stuff”, or call the Cooperative Extension Office at (252) 232-2262. Please register no later than March 10, 2017 to participate. Make all checks payable to Currituck County and return them, by mail or in person, to the Currituck County Center located at 120 Community Way, Barco, NC 27917. Registration is not fully completed until your registration fee is received. Participants will receive their baby chicks at a meeting in May where they will learn the basics of chicken care. More details on that meeting to follow.

For more information concerning registration or about the event, please contact Stephanie Minton at (252) 232-2262 or by email at stephanie_minton@ncsu.edu.
