Happy Trails Spring Break Horse Camp

— Written By and last updated by

N.C. Cooperative Extension will be hosting a three day Horse camp for non-horse owners during this year’s school spring break.

The camp will teach youth ages 8-12 about horse care, animal and rider safety and responsibility, and riding styles in a fun and energetic environment. Horse lovers will learn all the basics of equine science and horsemanship.

We will also incorporate a session on how to stay strong and fit with a healthy eating and lifestyles component of this camp. Youth will apply this knowledge and information by assisting camp staff to prepare a healthy, nutritious and great tasting lunch on the final day of camp.

The camp will be conducted April 17-19, 2017 from 10am – 2pm, at the Currituck County Rural Center (CCRC) on 184 Milburn Sawyer Road, Powells Point, NC.  The fees for this camp will be $30.00.

You may register for this camp by visiting http://go.ncsu.edu/springbreakhorsecamp or by calling the Currituck County 4-H staff at 252-232-2262. Please pay the camp fees prior to April 7, 2017 by submitting payment in person or by mail to Currituck County Center, 120 Community Way, Barco NC 27917. Checks should be made out to Currituck County with “Horse Camp” in the memo line. Space is limited.
