The 2017 Youth Market Turkey Show will be held during the NC State Fair, with turkey check-in on October 11th, and the show on Friday, October 13th starting at 9 a.m. Currituck County 4-H would like to offer assistance to any Currituck County youth, ages 5-18 who desires to participate in this exciting event.

To register a child for the turkey show please visit this link http://go.ncsu.edu/ncsuturkeyshow2017 and submit your $10 registration fee. The deadline to register is February 28th. Please have your registration fee in the Currituck Extension office located at 120 Community Way, Barco NC 27917 by March 7, 2017. Please make checks payable to Currituck Extension Foundation.

The Currituck County 4-H staff will help with picking up the poults on June 8th in Raleigh and delivering them to the Currituck Extension office. Participants will be asked to come to the Extension office that day by 6:00 p.m. to pick up their poults. Each participant may register to receive 1-3 banded turkey hen poults. Please indicate on the online registration form how many poults you would like to receive. To give the poults a healthy start, 5 lbs of turkey starter will be given to each participant.

Participants are only allowed to bring one bird for check-in on October 11th. The rest are yours to keep! Currituck County 4-H staff will be willing to assist with delivering the hens on check-in day if needed. Youth will need to be at the fair on show day scheduled for Friday October 13, 2017.
