Moyock Extension and Community Association Club Celebrate 51 Years of Community Service!
NC Cooperative Extension provides several volunteer opportunities within the community. One of those groups is the Extension and Community Association (ECA) which works to serve the community and provides members with leadership development. In Currituck, there are three ECA Clubs. The oldest is Moyock Extension and Community Association which celebrates 51st years of service to it’s community in July of this year. Throughout the year members do a number of service projects. In February they visited Sentara Barco Nursing Center where, club members Evelyn Henley, Mollie Bailey, Erline Jones, and Sheila Gregory donated approximately 50 pairs of socks to the center. Other club projects include collecting Box Tops for Education which are donated to Moyock and Shawboro Elementary Schools and the collection of can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. Club members also make shoeboxes that are donated to Operation Christmas Child a Samaritan’s Purse project. At each club, meeting members are given educational resources concerning their health so they are better equipped to take care of themselves and their loved ones.
