STEM Cloverbud, ages 5-7

Covered Topics:

  • Energy – Through a variety of interactive lessons, participants will learn about different types of energy and how they can be used to power our world.
  • Kitchen Science – Using household ingredients, create chemical reactions, learn exciting scientific principles, and more from within your kitchen!
  • Bugs – Discover more about insects such as spiders, bees, and any other bug found in your backyard.

Registration Cost: Free

Materials: To get the most out of the activities, a suggested materials list will be provided during the program. You are not required to purchase all of the items, but they do help with your overall experience learning these vital life skills.

Delivery method: Virtual. THIS PROGRAM IS OFFERED IN A SELF-PACED, ASYNCHRONOUS FORMAT. As a family, you can decide how much or how little time you would like to invest in the activities and work the programs into your existing summer schedule as needed.

Open to all youth. 4-H membership is NOT required.

Space is limited for some thematic areas. REGISTRATION CLOSES ON AUGUST 15, ACCESS TO VIRTUAL CONTENT IS AVAILABLE UNTIL AUGUST 31, 2020.

Sessions will be available June 22 and new sessions will open once a week through July 6, 2020.

4-H STEM program flyer STEM Junior, ages 8-10

Covered Topics:

  • Kitchen Science – Using household ingredients, create chemical reactions, learn exciting scientific principles, and more from within your kitchen!
  • Energy – Through a variety of interactive lessons, participants will learn about different types of energy and how they can be used to power our world. A materials list will be provided to purchase components for the activity.
  • Coding – Coding is changing our world and the way we live. Learn fundamental coding concepts in this workshop.
  • Natural Sciences – Science occurs every day in the world around us. Expand knowledge about pollination, rocks, ecosystems, and more with interactive activities.

Registration Cost: Free

Materials: To get the most out of the activities, a suggested materials list will be provided during the program. The Energy activities have a required materials list in order to fully participate.

Delivery method: Virtual. THIS PROGRAM IS OFFERED IN A SELF-PACED, ASYNCHRONOUS FORMAT. As a family, you can decide how much or how little time you would like to invest in the activities and work the programs into your existing summer schedule as needed.

  • Exploring the Built Environment: Intro To Architecture (A Fine Art) – For the builders and engineering-minded: by using history, design, math, and concepts in art and STEM, participants will create their own architectural design.
  • Magic of Electricity – Wire circuits, build an electromagnet, and even create a simple DC motor in this hands-on workshop series. Specific materials are required for most of the electricity activities. A list of common household items and a list of specialty items to purchase, like a DC motor kit, will be available in the lesson. The specialty items are ~$50.
  • Coding– Coding is changing our world and the way we live. Learn fundamental coding concepts in this workshop.
  • Astronomy: Shooting for the Stars
  • Hydroponics – Growing Vegetables WITHOUT SOIL!! Learn more about how to grow food in any environment at any time of the year.

Registration Cost: Free Materials: Specific materials are required for most of the electricity activities. A list of common household items and a list of specialty items to purchase, like a DC motor kit, will be available in the lesson. The specialty items are ~$50.

Delivery method: Virtual. Self-paced. THIS PROGRAM IS OFFERED IN A SELF-PACED, ASYNCHRONOUS FORMAT. (Magic of Electricity will have a live session that will be recorded and available to view anytime.) As a family, you can decide how much or how little time you would like to invest in the activities and work the programs into your existing summer schedule as needed.

  • Sheets & Slides – Increase your skills and employability by learning how to use these popular and handy tools.
  • Comparative Anatomy – Through hands-on dissection, study and compare the anatomies of various species of animals.
  • Build Your Own Website – Learn the science of coding by using fundamental programming languages to create a website from scratch.
  • Plant Biology – Increase your knowledge of plant components through strawberry DNA extraction, chromatography, and more!
  • Magic of Electricity – Wire circuits, build an electromagnet, and even create a simple DC motor in this hands-on workshop series. Specific materials are required for most of the electricity activities. A list of common household items and a list of specialty items to purchase, like a DC motor kit, will be available in the lesson. The specialty items are ~$50.
  • Hydroponics – How does a seed become a plant? Learn more about germination and growing with a hydroponics system.
  • Stream Water Quality – Learn to identify macro-invertebrates and gain a better understanding of water quality and stream environments.

Registration Cost: Free

Materials: Specific materials are required for most of the electricity activities. A list of common household items and a list of specialty items to purchase, like a DC motor kit, will be available in the lesson. The specialty items are ~$50.

Delivery method: Virtual. Programs are offered in a Synchronous and Self-Paced, Asynchronous format. Programs that are Synchronous, you will be able to join the program leader for a multi-day adventure. (Magic of Electricity will have a live session that will be recorded and available to view anytime.) As a family, you can decide how much or how little time you would like to invest in the activities and work the programs into your existing summer schedule as needed.
