4-H Congratulations

Iredell County 4-H’ers Excel in Presentation Contest

Five Iredell County 4-H members competed in the 4-H presentation contest, at both the county-level and at the South Central District Activity Day. 4-H’ers competing in the presentation choose a topic and put together an educational presentation with visual aids. Typically the contest is held in person, but due to COVID-19, this year’s contests were held virtually.

In the Livestock and Dairy Production category, Cooper Grebe placed bronze in the 8-10 age division with his presentation on “How to Wash a Cow.” Hannah Loftin’s presentation, “How to Clip Your Heifer So She is Ready for Those Colored Shavings,” won gold in the 14-18 age division.

Ruth McMeans competed in the Foods and Nutrition category, 11-13 age division, and placed bronze with her presentation titled, “Eating Healthy.”

Naomi McMeans won gold in the Open Class category, 8-10 age division, with her presentation, “Finding Solutions to Things That Come Up.”

Grant Hall won gold in the Forestry and Wildlife category, 11-13 age division, with his presentation on “Turkey Calls.”

All five youth won gold in the county-level competition. Iredell County 4-H is extremely proud of these youth—they are great representatives of our community.
