Pasture Management

— Written By and last updated by Horse grazing on grass

Are you managing your pastures properly? Horses should be able to graze all year long on properly maintained pastures.

Horses are grazing animals that are designed to graze constantly and can survive on well-maintained pasture alone. Making sure your pasture is properly fertilized and seeded is key when you are relying on pastures to feed your horses. A well-managed pasture will help control parasites, lessen the need for hay, and provide the proper nutrients for your horses to survive.

Attached you will find a guide provided by North Carolina State University that will help you better understand horse pasture maintenance and horse nutrition.
