The Chatham County Youth Livestock Team is recruiting new members! This group is for kids ages 8-18 who are interested in learning more about livestock. We will learn how to identify breeds, feeds, tools, and meat cuts; evaluate hay, wool, and meat cuts; and about livestock judging, quality assurance, husbandry, reproduction, and more for sheep, goats, pigs, and cattle. We will compete in at least two state competitions per year at the end of July and October. We have a limited number of spots available in our teams.

We are also looking for adult volunteers to assist this team. We are looking for volunteers to help teach practices (need to have livestock knowledge), serve as chaperones on events, and to offer farm visits for practices.

We are hosting an interest meeting on April 5th starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Chatham County Agricultural Conference Center. Please register for this interest meeting (both team members and volunteers) at https://forms.gle/FvjUZRFf6fLFC5Yx5.
