Experience making your own pasta!

Ciao and benvenuto all pasta fans! Does making your own pasta from scratch sound interesting to you? Then NC Cooperative Extension’s Make and Take Pasta Class is where you want to be The class is being held on Tuesday, December 12 from 1 to 3:00pm at the Currituck Extension Office, where you will learn to prepare pasta from start to finish. You will then get to take the pasta home with you to enjoy. Delizioso!

Don’t forget to pre-register to hold your spot in the class and pay your $10.00 class fee by December 8th. You can register online at go.ncsu.edu/makeandtakepastaclass2017 or by contacting the office at 252-232-2261. Payment must be received within 5 business days of registering and can be made in person at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center or by mailing a check made payable to “Currituck County” to 120 Community Way, Barco, NC 27917.

L.I.T is a program to engage and empower teens, grades 9-12, by providing access to new ideas, experiences, training, internships, volunteer opportunities and team building activities. Teens will grow in self-confidence, self-motivation and self-responsibility as they learn to manage conflict, regulate emotions and communicate more clearly in a safe, friendly and fun small group setting of piers.

Participants will be encouraged to expand the way they think about their future and participate in activities designed to help them identify the necessary steps to create opportunities that will help them achieve their goals in life. We will practice and develop marketable life skills, teamwork strategies, and integrity of character as we learn to manage emotions, and communicate clearly and respectfully.

TOPICS & ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:

Life mapping. (Developing a personalized plan.)
Volunteer opportunities.
Translating volunteer and community service into marketable skills.
Record keeping.
Resume & cover letter development / writing.
Personal and professional reference development.
Field trips, team-work, and team-building activities.
Interview skills; using effective communication and body language.

Most meetings are scheduled for Thursdays after school 3:30pm - 6:00pm.
Program begins September 14, 2017 and ends May 24, 2018.
