Do you want to make your New Year’s resolution of having a healthy lifestyle stick? Then to help kick start your resolution, try NC Cooperative Extension’s free, virtual Whole Body Boot Camp starting January 17th and running through February 7th. Each week, there will be a short virtual class that can be viewed on your own schedule and in your own home. You will then be given a few small self-improvement homework assignments to complete during the week, as well as group discussions and encouragement throughout the class. As a bonus, you will receive a digital workbook that can be printed or downloaded to help guide you through the activities over the four weeks. The four sessions included are: Getting to Know Yourself; Eating for the Seasons; Move Every Day; and Commit to Yourself. So, take time for yourself this year by joining this free pilot program that you can complete entirely from the comfort of your own computer! You have nothing to lose except maybe some unhealthy habits.

Do you love cooking with Herbs? Would you love to cook with herbs year round?  Well this is the class for you! The Currituck County Center of NC Cooperative Extension will be having a “Gardening and Cooking with Herbs” class on Monday, May 21st from 10am to 1pm. The class will be held at the Currituck County Extension Center located at 120 Community Way in Barco, NC. Registration and a class fee of $20 are required.

        

We will begin with a lesson in container and windowsill herb gardening. During this portion of the class, you will also learn what herbs pair well together and how to preserve herbs for later use. Participants will even get to plant a window herb garden to take home! Following that, the second half of the class is learning how to use  your windowsill herbs to create delicious dishes filled with fresh flavor. Participants will create a full lunch from drinks to desserts using herbs in every dish. Space is limited so hurry and sign up today! This will be a fun and informative class you don’t want to miss.

Take your cooking to the next level!

A great way to spice up your cooking is to take it international. Beginners to seasoned cooks can join NC Cooperative Extension at one of our International Cooking classes. View the schedule and class description below to pick the class(es) that most interest you. All classes are hands-on and tasting is a must.

French Baking

Looking to step up your baking game? Try our French Baking class scheduled on April 30th from 1:00 to 3:00 pm where we will be learning the basics of making macarons. Class fee is $10.00.

Mexican Cookery

Spice up your family dinners with our Mexican Cookery class on May 23rd from 10 to 1:00pm. Learn traditional Mexican cooking techniques with a healthy spin for only $15.00.
