Description: NC Cooperative Extension is holding a series of home canning classes from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center. Each class offers a hands-on experience using food preservation techniques. Each class requires a $15.00 registration fee. Check out the dates and descriptions below.

2019 Class Schedule
Jams and Jellies – May 8
Participants will learn how to make fresh produce into jam and jelly. Then will experience water bath canning first hand.


Pressure Canning – May 15
Learn why a pressure canner must be used for some fruits and vegetables and how to safely pressure can fresh produce.


Salsa – May 22
Participants will be preparing two types of salsa, Spicy Tomato Salsa and Papaya-Pineapple Salsa, which will be preserved using a water bath canner.

You can register online at go.ncsu.edu/whatscookingsignup or by contacting the office at 252-232-2261. Class size is limited and reservations confirmed upon receipt of registration fee. Payments can be made in person at N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center or by mailing a check made payable to “Currituck County” to 120 Community Way, Barco, NC 27917.
