There are some exciting new agritourism promotion opportunities for farms and agribusinesses in Currituck. N.C. Cooperative Extension in Currituck will be hosting a meeting on Friday, March 11, 2022 to help you learn more.
First, any producer interested in getting involved with the Vacationer Supported Agriculture (VSA) program is invited to join us in the Extension Auditorium at 11am. VSA is a program that links farmers to vacationers through produce boxes that are marketed and delivered to vacationers on the Currituck Outer Banks. To make this program work, we are seeking local growers that wish to produce and sell product to supply this effort. More information about the program and how to get involved will be shared from 11-12 with plenty of time for questions and answers.
Following lunch (sponsored by Currituck Travel and Tourism), learn how to get involved in the VisitNC Farms app. The VisitNC Farms app allows vacationers and residents to locate farms, markets and agricultural destinations nearby that have products or activities that interest them. Listing in this app is free thanks to Currituck Travel and Tourism. More information about this program and how to get involved will be shared from 12:30-1:30 with plenty of time for questions and answers.
Please register for this event at https://currituckagritourismmeeting22.eventbrite.com so that we can get a head count for the meal. Currently, masks are not required for indoor in-person classes but are encouraged for all individuals. Please be aware this could change in light of changing state or local COVID-19 mandates.
