The Wonderful World of Seed Blocking

Do you want to start seeds indoors, but you just don’t have the space? Are you looking for a more efficient way to start and grow seeds? If so, this is the class for you!

Extension Master Gardener℠ Volunteer and owner of Fuggles Flower Farm, Emily Nekl is presenting this free course on February 2 from 10:00 to 11:00 am. at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center, located at 120 Community Way in Barco, NC. Register online for this free event.

When asked about her experience with soil blocking, Emily had this to say, “Soil blocking is an excellent method for germination. Using less water, plastic trays, and space, we have almost entirely changed our farm's germination program from traditional flats to soil blocks. Great for the home gardener or farmer, this is a relatively unknown germination technique that has excellent potential for all. In class we will discuss the technique, blocking mixes, seed sowing, as well as germination techniques for a number of vegetable and flower crops.”
