Join us for 2024 Sizzling Summer Sessions where we offer face-to-face opportunities for youth ages 5-18 to actively create lasting summer memories through engaging fun and hands-on activities. Camp times may vary.

Register Online for all Franklin County 4-H Sizzling Summer sessions. Registration Opens Friday, May 3rd at 10 a.m.

Additional information:

  • The location of the camps will be at N.C. Cooperative Extension-Franklin County Center. If the camp takes place at another location, transportation is provided but will still meet at the Franklin County Extension Center, 103 S. Bickett Blvd., in Louisburg or will be indicated in camp descriptions.
  • Youth must be enrolled in 4-H Online to sign up.You MUST register as a 4-H Member not participant in order for your registration to be considered complete.
  • Each camper is encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle.
  • Each program will provide water and snacks.
  • Youth will be required to adhere the NC 4-H code of conduct.
  • Youth must be at least 5 years old as of Jan 1, 2024 to participate in 4-H.
    There are no refunds unless the program has to be cancelled.

CAMPS

Expressive Arts at Muddy Mountain Painting-Ages 5-7
June 11th
Time: 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
Ages: 5 to 7
Cost: $20
Youth will meet at the workshop location: Muddy Mountain Paint located in Louisburg at 348 S Bickett Blvd Suite # 102. Youth will have the opportunity to get their creatvie juices flowing and express their feelings with art. Youth will be designing and paiting on a canvas. Youth will also be picked up at this location at the end.

June 12th

“Skin is In” Travel with us to The Spa Academy USA located right here in our beautiful tow of Louisburg. We will learn proper skin hygiene, self care, confidence and will get a mini facial! Don’t forget we will go over S K I N our biggest organ and what it does to protect our body! The other half of the day we will spend with Louisburg Nutrition learning about healthy drinks to hydrate with after we do some physical fitness like drum yoga and learning about healthy eating habits. Please bring a bag lunch.

No Sew-Sewing Camp
June 18th
Time: 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Ages: 5 to 7
Cost: $15
This is a great program for those that do not know how to sew with sewing machines but want to do some no sew items with fabric. Youth will learn basic hand sewing techniques. Youth will design and make fabric beads and design a necklace. In addition to fabric bead necklaces, youth will make teddy bears and color cloth placemats.

No Sew-Sewing Camp
June 19th-20th
Time: 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Ages: 8 and up
Cost: $25
This is a great program for those that do not know how to sew with sewing machines but want to do some no sew items with fabric. Youth will learn basic hand sewing techniques and use math to measure and cut their fabric. Youth will design and make fabric beads and design a necklace. In addition to fabric bead necklaces, youth will design an embroidery hoop fabric working clock, a teddy bear and placemats if time permits.

Cloverbud Camp (Science, Bugs, and FUN)
June 25th-27th
Time: 1 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
Ages: 5 to 7
Cost: $30
Youth will do hands on science experiments, learn about bugs and make a bug catcher during this 3 day camp for ages 5, 6, and 7. They will create and eat “veggie bugs” and make bouncy balls. We will also make clean mud dough just to name a few.

Hungry? Alpaca Lunch (Haha)-Alpaca Camp
July 1st-3rd
Time: 9 a.m.- 1 p.m.
Ages: 8 and up
Cost: $30
Take a journey with us on a small family farm in northeast Franklin County. “Alpacas in the Pines” is home to 9 alpacas, 1 llama and a tree farm. Hands-on learning will include: herd health management, general farm chores, fiber facts & fun and forestry sustainability. Wednesday Addams and the alpacas can’t wait to meet you! Please bring a bag lunch each day. Closed toe shoes required.

It’s Electric!
July 9th
Time: 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Ages: 5 to 7
Cost: $15
Youth will learn about open and closed circuits, light a buld with a battery, and learn how to build snap circuit boards to make sirens, musical doorbell, and other projects. Youth will also learn about static electricity by doing hands-on experiments. You will have a “shockingly” good experience!

Rock’n with the Environment
July 16th-18th
Time: 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Ages: 8 and up
Cost: $50
Geology rocks! This is a camp for rock collectors! Focusing on North Carolina geology, we will learn about major rock types and how to identify rocks and minerals. We will even go on some rock hunting expeditions to do some of our own collecting! Tuesday involves a trip to the NC Treasure Hunters Campground in Nash County. Wednesday we will spend the day at the Extension Office and Thursday will be another field trip to Blue Diamond Gemstone Panning. Closed-toe shoes and bagged lunches required.

Summer Cuisines
July 23rd-25th
Time: 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Ages: 8 and up
Cost: $40
Join us for a fun-filled Summer Cooking Camp where you’ll learn to whip up delicious dishes under the sun.
Welcome to the **Summer Cuisine Cooking Camp**! Get ready to have a sizzling good time learning new recipes and culinary skills. Join us for a fun-filled 3 days of cooking and tasting delicious dishes. This in-person event is perfect for food enthusiasts of all ages. Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to hone your cooking abilities and make new friends. See you there!

Farm to Fork
July 30th
Time: 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Ages: 9 and up
Cost: $15
Spend a few hours learning to prepare and cook LOCAL foods. This day will be spent touring and meeting local farmers and learning about where our food is grown. At the end, kids will purchase and prepare a healthy, local dish from the farm-fresh ingredients they recieved at the local farm(s).
