Fall is the best time of year to plant garden plants and trees in mild winter climates, including native plants and drought-tolerant plants. When compared to spring planting, fall planting shows a significant increase in growth after the first year for most trees and shrubs. If you are interested in adding new plants to your house or garden, check out the Master Gardener℠ volunteers of Currituck County's annual Fall Plant Sale.
The plant sale will be held in conjunction with the Currituck Farm Festival, at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center on Saturday, October 2, 2021, from 1–4 p.m. The sale will be held outdoors between the YMCA and Currituck County office buildings. Patrons will have opportunities to purchase mums, perennials, and bulbs while benefiting from the ongoing stewardship and enhancement of the gardens, educational programs, and outreach activities. Gardening experts will also be on hand to provide free planting advice and to answer customer questions.
Currently, masks are not required for indoor in-person classes but are encouraged for unvaccinated individuals.
