Jam, bread, and biscuits

Currituck County 4-H is thrilled to announce a 2 day youth cooking program designed to teach young chefs the art of cooking! The program will be held on April 22nd and 23rd at the North Carolina Cooperative Extension office located at 120 Community Way, Barco NC 27917. Classes will start at 9:00 a.m. and end at 12:00 p.m. Children ages 8-12 are invited to join our fun, interactive cooking sessions where they’ll learn how to make delicious homemade jam, jelly, bread, and biscuits.The hands-on program will guide participants through the essential skills of cooking and baking in a safe, engaging environment. With instructors, kids will not only master the basics of cooking but also develop important life skills, creativity, and confidence in the kitchen.

Key Program Highlights: 

  • Jam & Jelly Making: Participants will learn how to create their own jams and jellies, using fresh fruits and simple ingredients to make flavorful spreads. 
  • Bread Making: From kneading dough to baking, kids will explore the science and art behind making fresh, homemade bread.
  • Baking Biscuits: They’ll also learn how to bake light, fluffy biscuits from scratch, perfect for any occasion.

There is a registration fee of $15.00. Payment can be made with a credit card via Eventbrite, or cash/check payable to NCSU. Checks and cash can be delivered to the Currituck Extension Office at 120 Community Way, Barco, NC 27917 within 5 days of registration.. All participants must also be enrolled in 4-H Online for the 2025 program year at  https://v2.4honline.com/
