NC 4-H A.I.R.E Program: Resume and Packet Completion
The NC 4-H AIRE (Application, Interview, Resume, and Essay) Program is designed to help young people ages 14-18, build the skills they need to succeed—not just in 4-H, but in school, careers, and life. Youth don’t just hear about these skills—they actively practice them. NC 4-H also uses the AIRE program to select delgates to represent NC 4-H at National 4-H Congress, National 4-H Conference and the National Youth Leadership Conference. Youth participate in the AIRE program by completing four components:
Application: Youth who submit a complete application packet will be invited to participate in the state-level AIRE competitive program. Applicants should be active 4-H members who have demonstrated involvement and achievement in county, district, and state 4-H programs.
Essay : Applicants must submit an original essay responding to the prompt provided in the application materials. The essay should reflect the applicant’s personal experiences, character, and growth through their involvement in 4-H.
Resume: Applicants must submit a resume highlighting their 4-H involvement, leadership experiences, community service, and accomplishments. The resume should provide an overview of the applicant’s skills, experiences, and personal development.
Interview : Applicants will participate in a face-to-face interview during NC 4-H Congress (July 22-23). The interview allows judges to learn more about the applicant’s experiences, leadership, and goals.
The AIRE packet consisting of the application, essay and resume must be submitted by 5pm, May 15, 2026 .
Currituck County 4-H is hosting multiple workshop sessions to allow youth to develop and practice the skills necessary to submit their application packet and successfully complete the face to face interview:
April 30, 2026, 5:30-7:00pm: Overview, Application and Essay
May 6, 2026, 5:30-7:00pm: Resume
May 13, 2026, 5:30-7:00pm: Resume and Packet Completion
June 9, 2026, 2:00-5:00pm: Interview Prep-Techniques, Poise & Appearance
June 23, 2026, 10am-2pm: *Interview Skills, Mock Interview
July 13, 2026, 10am-2pm: *Interview Skills, Mock Interview
