Introduction to Mushrooms

Discover the fascinating world of mushrooms in this beginner-friendly program on Thursday, August 20th, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center (120 Community Way, Barco, NC). Learn the basics of mushroom biology, their role in healthy ecosystems, and how to identify common local species.

Theresa Augustin, Vice President of Education and Conservation at Norfolk Botanical Garden, will lead the program. A graduate of Old Dominion University with a B.S. in Biology, she began her career at the Garden as an intern. She later served as Curator of Natural Areas, managing more than 80 acres of native landscapes. Since 2016, she has helped expand the Garden’s focus on environmental education, outreach, and stewardship. With over 25 years of experience, she is passionate about connecting people with the natural world.

We accept cash and check payments in addition to paying via credit card through Eventbrite. Please make checks payable to NCSU. Checks and cash payments can be received at the Currituck Extension Office located at 120 Community Way, Barco, NC 27917, within 5 days of registration. Class size is limited, and full registration, including payment, is required to hold your spot.
