2026 Small Farmers' Road Trip

Sun Aug 30 — Tue Sep 01

Spend two days exploring successful sustainable, regenerative, and organic farming practices on small farms in western North Carolina.  The 3rd Annual Small Farmers’ Road Trip – Sustainable and Organic Bus Tour will travel through a diverse mix of farms in beautiful Buncombe and Madison Counties.  The starting point of the Small Farmer’s Road Trip is Weaverville, NC on August 30, 2026.

You will have the opportunity to see firsthand how local farmers are innovating with livestock (including cattle, goat dairy, and silvopasture), fruit orchards, cut flowers, organic vegetable CSA, composting, and more. The tour includes visits to eight farms, and an incubator value added product kitchen, with a strong emphasis on practical learning and community-building.

Whether you are a beginning or experienced farmer, this tour offers a wealth of on-the-ground, real-time insights and the chance to share experiences with fellow growers and Extension Agents and Specialists.  Small farmers who have attended previous Small Farmers’ Road Trip Bus Tours said

We found value in attending the bus tour because you get to see other people’s ideas and techniques.  It makes you think outside of the box that you are currently in and come up with new and creative ideas that you can implement on your farm to ultimately make your business grow!”

Early bird tickets are on sale until August 14, 2026, for $40 per person and include two nights lodging (Fairfield Inn: August 31 and September 1), two-day tour bus ride, lunches on both tour days, a clipboard case for note taking, and an insulated water bottle. After August 14, 2026, ticket price will be $50 per person.

Once you have ordered your ticket on Eventbrite, you will receive an email to provide additional information that will complete your registration. Your registration is NOT complete until you have provided this additional information.
