Let’s Fire Up the Hydroponics Rack!

hydroponics

Did you know that you can grow plants without using any soil?  The process is called hydroponics and it is being used more and more to grow plants such as lettuce on a commercial scale.  We have a small hydroponics rack, and November is the perfect time to get it going and growing for the winter.  Come join us!

This free, hands-on workshop is called Let’sFire Up the Hydroponics Rack! andis a gardening activity for youth ages 10-14, held on Friday, November 5, 2021, at 3 p.m.  The workshop will last approximately 1.5 hours. In this interactive workshop, we will learn about a small hydroponics rack, how it works, and how it functions.  We will then “fire it up” by doing everything necessary to get it running and insert our plants and grow lights. Our workshop will be at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center, 120 Community Way in Barco, NC.

Gardening is a healthy, fun activity for children!  Young people that participate in gardening activities develop new skills, learn about science and nature, learn about where their food comes from, and expand their creativity and imagination.
