Using Local Foods: Pickles

Pickles in jars

Discover the art of pickling in our hands-on class focused on using fresh, local cucumbers to create delicious homemade pickles! Whether you're a gardening enthusiast with an abundance of cucumbers or simply curious about preserving seasonal produce, this workshop will teach you the essentials of pickling—from selecting the best cucumbers to mastering brines and spice blends. You'll leave with your own jar of pickles and the knowledge to continue making crisp, flavorful pickles at home all year long. Join us and turn your local harvest into something truly tasty! Class will be held at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm on August 20th. The class fee of $5 will cover class material and produce that you will be taking home.
