N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center is hosting a “Landscapers School” on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, from 9 a.m.–noon. This three-hour course is open to the public as well as landscaping contractors. The course will offer 3L credits for N.C. Landscape Contractor’s license and 3 hours of N, L, D, & X pesticide license categories. You must be present for the entirety of the event to obtain these credits. 

The course will be broken up into three segments: lawns, spraying, and shrubs/trees. In the lawn section, we will focus on variety selection for this region, establishment, maintenance, and upkeep. For the spraying section, we will focus on weed and insect I.D. and control, with a hands-on sprayer and spreader calibration demonstration. Our last section, shrubs/trees, will focus on proper pruning techniques for various shrubs and trees, tool selection, and repair/maintenance.

 Agenda     

  • 9–9:50 a.m. – Lawns (Maintenance, and Characteristics of local grasses) 
  • 10 min. break 
  • 10–10:50 a.m. – Spraying (Weeds, Insects, Sprayer and Spreader calibration) 
  • 10 min. break 
  • 11–11:50 a.m. – Shrubs/Trees (Basic Pruning and Tool selection and Maintenance)
