Outdoor Cooking: NC 4-H Presentations:  One component of the NC 4-H Public Speaking program is the Outdoor Cooking/Grilling Categories. In these categories youth demonstrate proper grilling techniques in a safe and sanitary setting, as well as demonstrate their knowledge of the nutritional values and uses of their chosen protein. This category is a great first step for youth who have never participated in public speaking activities.

Join the Currituck County 4-H & FCS staff on April 6, 2021, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the N.C. Cooperative Extension-Currituck County Center, as we give an overview of the Outdoor Cooking program. We will provide instruction on the preparation of poultry, beef, pork, and seafood on the grill, demonstration techniques, nutrition, and food and grilling safety. This is a hands-on workshop that allows youth to experience every aspect of outdoor cooking and grilling, and learn the ins and outs of this fun and delicious part of the North Carolina Public Speaking Contest. This workshop is for youth ages 8-18 and the cost for this workshop is $ 7.00. Need-based scholarships are available for this workshop.

Reserve your child’s seat today by first completing the class registration and payment at and then complete your child’s 2021 4-H Online enrollment. Class size is limited and full registration, including payment, and 4H Online enrollment is required to hold your child’s spot. We will gladly help you complete your online registration. Currently, in-person classes require masks to be worn for the duration of the class without exception. If you arrive without a mask one will be provided for you. We ask all participants to maintain six feet of distance while on the premises. We are following the current North Carolina mandates.
