Getting your soil sampled is a great way to get your planting season off on the right foot. Soil sample results give insight to what fertilizer and pH adjustments need to be made to help your plants have success.

Starting on April 1st, soil samples are FREE again. Call the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center at 252-232-2261 to schedule a time to come pick up soil sample boxes. At our office, we’ll walk you through how to correctly take samples, we’ll send them off for FREE, and we’ll help you analyze the results when they come back to you.

If you need a quick refresher on how to take soil samples, view the video above, just remember to only fill the boxes with dry soil, and to follow the instructions on the side of the box. Once your samples are collected, you can set up an appointment to come by the Currituck County office at 120 Community Way in Barco. We’ll get those samples shipped out for you and you’ll get the results emailed to you in a few weeks. For help interpreting the results, view the video below. You can also call the office for assistance and recommendations.

Currently, in-person meetings and office visits require masks to be worn for the duration of the meeting without exception. If you arrive without a mask one will be provided for you. We ask all participants to maintain six feet of distance while on the premises. We are following the current North Carolina mandates. If you are not able to meet these requirements, or if you need accommodations for persons with disabilities please contact Adam Formella at (252) 232-2261 or by email at adam_formella@ncsu.edu.
