Collapse ▲Knotts Island 4-H Fantastic Fridays, held at the Knotts Island Elementary school and Mackay Island NWR, is the perfect program for your child to experience some great Summer Fun. This 4-H summer day camp provides a safe and fun environment where your child can learn and grow. Youth, ages 5 (must have completed kindergarten) to 12, participate in age-appropriate and learning-centered activities that encourage new discoveries, new skills, leadership, independence, and friendship.
Each Friday, from June 18–July 30, 2021, we will present a wide variety of enrichment activities to keep campers engaged. Hands-on experiments, art projects, games, music, cooking, and service learning are just a few examples of the fun that will be experienced. Fantastic Fridays will be held at the Knotts Island Elementary School and Mackay Island NWR, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Friday, from June 18–July 30, 2021. There will not be a camp on Friday, July 2, 2021.
Parents may choose to register their children for any or all of the following six sessions:
Week 1 – June 18 – Environmental Science – Drop-off and pickup will be at the Mackay Island Visitors Center. Most activities and programs will be outdoors.
Week 2 – June 25 – Healthy Lifestyles/STEM – Drop-off and pickup will be at the Knotts Island Elementary School.
Week 3 – July 9 – Expressive Arts/STEM – Drop-off and pickup will be at the Knotts Island Elementary School.
Week 4 – July 16 – Super Science – Drop-off and pickup will be at the Knotts Island Elementary School.
Week 5 – July 23 – Environmental Science – Drop-off and pickup will be at the Knotts Island Elementary School.
Week 6 – July 30 – Healthy Lifestyles/Cooking – Drop-off and pickup will be at the Knotts Island Elementary School.
Participants will need to wear closed-toe shoes and bring their lunch. We will be conducting experiments/activities that involve soil, paint, water and other craft materials so please have them wear clothing that can withstand these materials.
Reserve your child’s seat today by first completing the class registration at https://knottsislandfantasticfriday.eventbrite.com and then complete your child’s 2021 4-H Online enrollment at 4-H Online. Class size is limited and full registration, including completed 4-H Online enrollment is required to hold your child’s spot. We will gladly help you complete your online registration. Please feel free to call us at 252-232-2262, and we will walk you through the process. Currently, in-person classes require masks to be worn for the duration of the class without exception. If you arrive without a mask one will be provided for you. We ask all participants to maintain six feet of distance while on the premises. We are following the current North Carolina mandates.
