N.C. Cooperative Extension, Currituck County Center is hosting a 4-H Domestic Poultry Show on October 1, 2022 in conjunction with the Currituck Farm Festival. The show is open to youth ages 5 – 18. This year the show will be a little different than in the previous years. Youth will not receive their chicks from the Extension office, but instead are able to show chickens they own. There will not be any specific breed classes, but we will have 3 different divisions: Standard Laying hens, Bantam hens, and Roosters. Youth can show 1 bird in each division. There will be a registration fee of $5.00 per participant. To register for the 4-H Domestic Poultry Show, please visit https://poultryshow2022.eventbrite.com. The deadline to register for the poultry show is September 14, 2022.

Participants will check in at 11:30 a.m. on the day of the show  at the poultry show table. To ensure the health and safety of the participants and the animals, all poultry will be tested by NCDA. After testing is complete 4-H Staff will verify class and age division placement.

The 4-H Staff will also be holding  workshops to help educate youth about chickens and poultry showmanship. Visit our website at https://currituck.ces.ncsu.edu for more information regarding these workshops These workshops are not required to participate in the show, but are recommended. Registration for the 4-H Poultry Workshops can be found at https://poultryworkshops2022.eventbrite.com .

All participants for the 4-H Domestic Poultry Show and the 4-H Poultry Workshops must also be enrolled in 4-H Online for the 2022 program year; the link to that portion of the registration process is available at https://v2.4honline.com/.
