2024 District 4-H Horse show participants

The East Region 4-H Qualifying Horse Show was held May 3-5, 2024 at Martin Community College in Williamston, NC. Also, the North Region 4-H Qualifying Horse Show was held  May 11-12 at the Hunt complex in Raleigh, NC. Currituck was well represented at both shows.

These qualifying horse shows are for 4-H’ers that would like to advance to the NC  State 4-H Horse Show that is held in Raleigh on July 9-14, 2024. The district horse show offers events for riders in jumping, hunter flat, showmanship, dressage, gaming, western pleasure and ranch horse classes.

Currituck 4-H’ers competing at the East show were Cayden Lowe, Karleigh Meads, Easton Meads, Olivia Green, Sophie Haislop and Dakota Kovacs . All of these 4-H’ers qualified in their respective divisions. Izabel Cox and Amber Jones competed at the North Region show, also qualifying for the state show. All eight will advance to the state competition. In addition to qualifying for the state show Cayden Lowe was the recipient of the Billy Murray college scholarship for continued education, and the winner of the Nancy Gates Showmanship award for being the winner in the senior western showmanship class.

In order to advance to the NC State 4-H Show, participants must qualify by earning one point in the division in which they are showing. The district horse show is open to any NC 4-H’er holding a 2024 4-H eligibility card.
