Collapse ▲Sherry Fischlschweiger, a dedicated 4-H Youth Development Agent with N.C. Cooperative Extension in Currituck County has been celebrated for her outstanding contributions to youth development at the 2024 North Carolina Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals Annual Conference, held August 19th-21st in Concord, NC.
Fischlschweiger received the prestigious T.C. Blalock Agent Award (4-7 years), a testament to her remarkable commitment and innovative approaches to youth engagement in Currituck County. Under her leadership, the county’s 4-H program has seen impressive growth across multiple areas, including program development, the launch of new clubs, and the expansion of school-based enrichment and at-risk youth initiatives. Her efforts in volunteer recruitment and partnership expansion have significantly increased opportunities for youth to engage in life skills programming, setting a new standard for 4-H excellence in the region.
“I am extraordinarily proud of the work that Sherry does,” said Cameron Lowe, County Extension Director. “She has built a dynamic 4-H program that engages volunteers and community partners. Her efforts and those of her partners have resulted in numerous achievements for our youth and have truly developed them into outstanding leaders.”
This recognition of Sherry Fischlschweiger’s achievements highlights the vital role of 4-H in fostering the growth of young people across the state, proving once again that the impact of dedicated professionals and volunteers can transform communities.
The North Carolina Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals is dedicated to advancing the profession of 4-H and youth work in North Carolina. The 4-H program, a cornerstone of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, provides transformative learning experiences for more than 260,000 young people aged 5 to 18 each year, supported by over 16,700 adult and youth volunteers.
