N.C. Cooperative Extension in Currituck County welcomed Heather Petherbridge as the newest member of their staff on March 10, 2025. Heather will serve as Currituck’s Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Agent focusing on community health and wellness.
Heather is a graduate of Brigham Young University. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Plant Production Certificate from Tidewater Community College and is a fluent Spanish speaker. She has served as a health coach and health curriculum writer and has a passion for community engagement and service.
“Heather’s interests, education and personality make her an ideal fit for this job,” says Cameron Lowe, Cooperative Extension Director. “We are very excited about the dynamic she will add to our staff team and the opportunities she will provide the public.”
Heather will be responsible for overseeing the Family and Consumer Sciences program with Currituck Cooperative Extension. In Currituck County families receive research-based answers to their day-to-day challenges. Family and Consumer Science staff are ready with answers on managing a family budget, helping families improve their eating habits, Medicare questions, or dealing with the special concerns related to early childhood, parenting, or aging.
Heather shared, “I am so excited to be joining this network of community leaders. I will work to provide a collaborative link between existing programs and current research as well as respond to the changing needs of our growing and vibrant community.”
