Gear up for a great day of fun in the sun and sea! We will start the day at the Museum of the Albemarle learning about the impact of water, boats and fishing on the residents and economy of our region. We will also have a scavenger hunt at the Museum. After a picnic lunch in the park we will head over to the river for our sailing excursion. Learn the basics of sailing (knots, rigging and techniques) with River City Sailing and then spend the afternoon trying out your new sailing skills. Youth must be 11 -14 years old, and able to swim in order to register for the program and parents will have to sign a River City Sailing waiver .
We will leave the Currituck County Extension Office at 120 Community Way in Barco at 9:30am and will return by 4:30pm. Participants will need to bring a bag lunch for our picnic. For safety reasons attire for the sailing experience should consist of comfortable clothing (and shoes) that can get wet -not swim suits. Life jackets will be required to be worn while sailing and will be provided by River City Sailing, however participants may bring their own certified life jacket if they wish.
Registration is not complete until you register your child in the 4-H online system. The link to do that is: https://v2.4honline.com/#/user/sign-in .
